Lyrics

The lyrics:
Grab a pen and guitar, come on, try one more time. It’s never been this hard. Just keep playing the part, come on, choke it out, now. But I start near and end far. Well I could run the horse through every course, till I run it in the ground and it falls down, and what then? I could stand up proud and grab a cloud and squeeze it in my hand, that’s some plan. . . just vapors of vanity.
What do I want, what do I think can get me to there? I don’t even know my mind. It’s a blessing, a dream, and it’s such a good gift, but it really isn’t mine. Well I could rush the trail through wind and hail ‘till it beats me in the ground and I fall down, and what then? I could stand up proud and grab a cloud and squeeze it in my hand, that’s some plan. . . Just vapors of vanity.
Peer inside my heart. Tell me if I harbor futile thoughts. Let me not be a victim of vanity Don’t let me be a victim of vanity.
Can you tell me what’s true beyond my illusion? I might be asking for a sign. ‘Cause if it’s done without you, I can’t bear to do it. I don’t want to waste your time. Don’t let me be a victim of vanity . . .
